If you're looking for a relaxed, fun getaway, free from line ups, crowds and attitude, Saddleback Lodge and Apex are just the ticket. Apex was awarded "Best Small Destination Resort" by Ski Canada magazine. Here you will find champagne powder, sunny skies, friendly locals and awesome skiing, but what you won't find is hordes of people crowding the lift lines and runs, but there are enough people to rock the Gunbarrel on Saturday night! Here the skiers and boarders have come to expect to have most of the runs to themselves, especially midweek. Apex is also very well known for it's world class events put on in the area; Alpine Canada runs a men's and women's NorAm here every year, and some of the best in alpine racing today got their start racing here at Apex. Apex was also the site of the 2006 World Cup Freestyle Championships and will likely host future world class events. Most of the Olympic aerialists stayed at Saddleback while training for 2002 and 2006 Olympics. Expect to see World Cup Cross Country Teams training at Nickel Plate Nordic Center after the Swedish teamed trained there this last year and came home with great results for the season.
