How to get to Saddleback Lodge at Apex Mountain Resort

Apex
Mountain Resort is located in the
southern
end of the Okanagan Valley, just north of the Washington state border, and
Penticton Regional Airport is
a convenient 40 minutes drive away and now has regularly scheduled direct
flights from Calgary and Vancouver with Pacific
Coastal Airlines.
Rates start at $109!! Air Canada also has regularly scheduled
flights into Penticton Airport from Vancouver, Edmonton, Victoria, Comox and
Courtney.
Kelowna International Airport is 95
minute's drive from Apex , and now offers daily direct flights from Seattle,
Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton and Toronto,
with direct flights soon to be available from Europe and Australia. (see

Shuttles
from the Penticton and Kelowna airports may be arranged through Saddleback
Lodge. Remember; a trip to Apex means you won't need to rent a
car!

DRIVING INSTRUCTIONS TO APEX
FROM PENTICTON ;
35 minutes driving time.
36 km, 35 minute drive from Penticton. Follow
signs to Apex Mountain Resort which is located off Green Mountain Road. Many
maps don't show Highway #3A, Green Mountain Road
or Apex Mountain Road, so use the one here or use
this GoogleMap!
From the Channel Parkway/Railroad
Street/Highway #97 bypass, turn West on Green Mountain Rd (marked as the
turnoff to Apex). Drive 24 kms, turn right on Apex Mountain Road at
the Apex Mountain Guest Ranch, drive 12 kms, turn left on Clearview Road to
Apex Village Centre, drive 200 meters, as you are taking the hairpin corner,
Saddleback Lodge is on your left. If you are in the Apex parking lot,
you have just missed us!
Once on Green Mountain
Road there will be very few signs & no street lights, don't worry, you
are on the right road!
These roads are paved and kept in very good condition thanks to Argo Road
Maintenance Crews. Plowing and Sanding is done continually as weather
conditions require.
Chains are generally not required, but good winter snow tires are needed Oct to
April.
FROM VANCOUVER;4.5 Hours Driving Time. Scenic, sometimes winding mountain highway.
Highway
#3; Crowsnest Pass route; this route is windy but scenic and
avoids most of the winter storms the Coquilhala Highway has. The
driving times for either route is about the same. Trans Canada
Highway #1 East to Hope, at interchange, take Highway #3 towards
Penticton.
At Keremeos, turn left onto Highway #3A. From Bear's Fruit
Stand on Highway #3A
(you can't miss it, on your left) drive 11.5 km. There will be a
highway sign on your right as you get to a passing lane:
THE ONLY ONE DON'T MISS IT !! to turn left onto Green Mountain Road,
to Apex Mountain Resort. Drive 14 km, turn left onto Apex Mountain
Road. Drive 12 km, you will start to pass some cabins on your
right side, then the road will split. Turn left toward the Village
Centre. Drive 300 meters, Saddleback Lodge will be on your
left ; 115 Clearview Crescent. Come on in and relax!
SHORTCUT
FOR
THE ADVENTUROUS SOUL WITH A GOOD CAR;
On
Highway #3 from Princeton, drive 38 km to Hedley (before Keremeos).
Drive 2.7 km from bridge, turn left onto Hedley Nickel Plate Road, marked
only with a very small sign on the side of the road.
This road is a single lane, dirt, steep, winding road not for the
faint of heart, but with spectacular views. Stay on the main road, past
the mine building (being decommissioned). The road will start to
widen, though is still gravel. Pass by Nickel Plate Nordic
Centre, the road will eventually turn into pavement. At this
point keep going down about 1 km, stay right to drive down to the
Village Centre.
Coquilhala
Toll Highway; this route has the straightest divided highway,
but also has the worst weather conditions. Check highway
conditions before using! At Hope, take Highway #5 to
Merritt. At Merritt take Highway #97C, at Highway #97 junction,
turn south to Penticton. At Penticton turn right onto Green Mountain
Road. Drive 24 kms, turn right on Apex Mountain Road at
the Apex Mountain Guest Ranch, drive 12 kms, turn left on Clearview Road to
Apex Village Centre, drive 200 meters, as you are taking the hairpin corner,
Saddleback Lodge is on your left. If you are in the Apex parking lot,
you have just missed us!
FROM
SEATTLE;

Hours Driving Time. 505 kms There are two routes, both approx.
the same driving time.
Drive
North on I-5 to Bellinghamand exit on
Meridian Street. Drive northeast to cross the border at Sumas. Head
to Trans Canada Highway #1 East to Hope, at interchange, take
Highway #3 towards Penticton.
At Keremeos, turn left onto Highway #3A. From Bear's Fruit
Stand on Highway #3A
(you can't miss it, on your left) drive 11.5 km. There will be a
highway sign :

options. #1 is faster by about 15minutes.
OPTION #1 (fastest) Turn
left onto highway #3 West towards Keremeos. As you approach
Keremeos (world famous for fruit stands) turn right onto highway
#3A towards Penticton. From Bear's Fruit Stand on Highway #3A
(you can't miss it, on your left) drive 11.5 km. There will be a
highway sign on your right as you get to a passing lane:

Summer Only;
Cascade Highway # 20. Drive
north on I5 to Burlington, turn onto Highway #20 ; a very scenic drive;
a winding mountain highway, the portion through the mountains to
Winthrop is not open during the winter months. Continue through
Winthrop and Twisp, onto Omak. Turn north onto Highway #97 to
Oroville, cross border to Osoyoos. Stay on Highway #97
North to Penticton. As you approach Penticton, pass the
airport on your left, the next light, turn left onto the Channel
Parkway By Pass. At the first light, turn left onto Green Mountain
Road to Apex Mountain Resort. Drive 22 km, turn right onto
Apex Mountain Road at
the Apex Mountain Guest Ranch, drive 12 kms, turn left on Clearview Road to

Drive West on Highway #3 to Osoyoos. Turn North onto Highway

Hours Driving Time 710 kms
Take Trans Canada Highway #1 West through Banff and Golden to
Sicamous.
Turn left onto Highway #97 South, follow this highway through Vernon
and Kelowna to Penticton. As you approach
Penticton, at the second set of lights, turn right onto the Channel
Parkway By Pass. At the second set of lights turn right onto Green
Mountain Road towards Apex Mountain Resort. Drive 22 km, turn
right onto Apex Mountain Road at
the Apex Mountain Guest Ranch, drive 12 kms, turn left on Clearview Road to
Apex Village Centre, drive 200 meters, as you are taking the hairpin corner,
Saddleback Lodge is on your left. If you are in the Apex parking lot,
you have just missed us!

FLYING
A 35
minute drive from the Penticton Regional Airport, makes Apex Mountain Resort the
closest Interior Ski Resort to an airport.
Daily direct
flights into Penticton Airport (YYF) are available through Pacific Coastal Airline and daily
flights (not direct) from Air Canada.
Shuttles from the airports are available through Saddleback Lodge and car
rentals are also available, however, a trip to Apex means you do not need a car
as all resort amenities are within easy walking distance of Saddleback Lodge
The Kelowna airport is approximately
90 minutes from Apex Mountain Resort). Airport transfers and car rental packages
provide several options for ground transportation between airports and the
resort.
